| How The Pink Kit Got Its Name |

Even The Pink Kit Name Is A Birth StoryThe Pink Kit was launched in 2001 at a national childbirth conference in another country from New Zealand which is the home of Common Knowledge Trust.Childbirth educators in this country were alarmed with the rise of caesarean in their
country. This concern is echoed in many countries, even New Zealand where the rate is 30% WITH midwifery care! Although the video (now a DVD) played non-stop at a trade table, few
cbes came by the table. The original resource was being launched under a different name which the Board of Trustees was uncertain about. No one came to look. Finally frustrated enough, the
person sitting at the display table approached a childbirth educator and asked
if they had looked at the video and kit. She said ' You mean that pink
kit over there?' No, she hadn't.
But that wasn't important ... a light-bulb moment ...We had the name ... easy to remember and What does it mean? Now we have families world wide who call themselves Pink Kit families. They call their babies ... Pink Kit babies. A big thanks to that woman at the conference, who ever you are. |
