Why Birth Plans Can Be An Illusion
Birth Plans were the rage for 40 years but too often they fail.
Men 'get' that its almost impossible to choose the birth you want. You know that there's no way to know how the birth will unfold.
How-ever as fathers-to-be (and this applies to anyone who is going to be a Birth Coach) ... you 'get' that having skills may make all the difference between birthing better and failing that you failed to actualize your Birth Plans.
Please do make a conventional Birth Plan but also make a Skills-based Birth Plan. Ask for what you want and don't want but let your birth profession (obstetrician or midwife) what skills you'll bring to the birth no matter what happens.
Birth professionals know there are too many unexpected things happen in birth but when they see skilled birthing women and Birth Coaching dads/others they are thrilled!
Now is the time to grow a skilled-birthing population.
