Honestly, I thought my midwife would leave me alone in labour and while giving birth. It was obvious that she had rules and regulations to follow and birth notes to take which were based on her checking me and the baby. Everything she did threatened to unbalance my fragile hold on how I managed my contractions.

As an independent midwife, I still have legal obligations which are becoming more stringent every year. This means that I have to do more assessing, monitoring and even some procedures. Although home births are ideal for couples, there is still a huge element of tampering with the woman. For several years, I've encouraged my couples to use The Pink Kit.
