I came from a very traditional village with little access to modern medicine but married a foreigner who worked for an NGO and travelled back to his country where I had my first child. His mother gave us The Pink Kit and at first I felt very shy to share such private matters with my husband. Once I watched the video I realised that the information was just about my body, much of which I didn't know but that felt familiar. Thankfully we did the work, although I did the internal work myself. That's something all women did where I came from anyway. The hospital felt very cold and white. I was very nervous and frightened. My husband helped me to realise that he and I could work through the contractions, that I didn't have to just lie there. We did very well. I love him very much for this gift he gave me.

All my friends chose an elective caesarean with an epidural. They could plan which day they had their babies and they said that they had protected their bodies for their husbands. My husband and I talked about what we wanted to do. I wanted to give birth more naturally but I was very afraid of the pain. Our midwife gave us The Pink Kit and taught me the internal work which we did. My labour niggled for two days and I got very nervous. She reminded us to go over all the sections of the video and do the work again. We did and it calmed me right down. I did give birth naturally and without needing to use pain relief. I used my husband as pain relief because he was right there and knew how to help me. Angeliana R. ... from Argentina
Yet, each of us comes from our own cultural group. Although I am a very modern woman whose great grandparents came to the UK, I am still seen as a woman of colour. Sometimes I find myself not participating in things where mostly white people will be. Using The Pink Kit gave my partner and I the opportunity to prepare for childbirth independent of these subtle nuances between people. It is truly universal and common knowledge.Miracles Buono ... from N. Africa;
I came from New Guinea and had my three previous children in my village. When I got pregnant in Australia, my baby lay across my belly. In my village the old women won't have cared, most of our births were fine. I hear people talk about women suffering but most of the women I knew had easy births. I still screamed sometime but the old women had massaged us for days so did our mothers, sisters or aunties. My midwife told me that I would probably have to have a caesarean. I was terrified. I met a woman who knew about The Pink Kit and she showed me some things. Anyway, I had a 4 hour easy labour and my baby knew what to do. F. Grace ... from New Guinea
