'I didnt have a choice about pain relief when I had my first two children. As soon as labour got more painful I was given a shot. I have no idea what I was given. It made me tired and I found it much harder to cope with the contractions at the time yet was more relaxed. For my third birth I used The Pink Kit Method. I certainly didnt plan to give birth without pain relief because I had always been given it. I just wanted to try to cope better. This time in labour the nurse actually asked me if I wanted a shot. I felt alright but wasnt confident about my ability. Thankfully my partner had done The Pink Kit with me and she felt confident on my behalf. She reassured me that she really was with me and going to help. My husband hadnt been able to help at the other two births but I dont really think it was his fault
he just didnt have The Pink Kit skills. Anyway, we managed together. I didnt use any pain relief this time and I felt much better after the birth and my baby was more alert.'

I dont care what people say about pain relief in birth. I wasnt going to give birth with something. I went through The Pink Kit, even did a bit of the internal work. Once the contractions got painful I asked for an epidural. I was so thankful. I really liked it but I have to admit that I was less in control and much more sleepy. There were good aspects and bad. Next time, Ill have to think about whether I should just take having birth skills is more important than just wanting to be numbed. I know I didnt recover as easily as other women in the ward who didnt use pain relief.'

I work in a hospital that has a 60% epidural rate. Its rare that when women come into the ward that they dont immediately ask for one. Our doctors are very comfortable with using epidurals in labor. Ive been with a few couples who say no to any pain relief and seem to work together so well that Ive investigated. Theyve used The Pink Kit. Its not something I can use with them and I dont see women antenatally but I sure wish more couples had access to it. Theres something unnatural about so many women wanting to be numb for the birth'.

Both my baby and I had an allergic reaction to the pain relief I was given in my last birth and we spent the next 10 days in the hospital recovering. I never had thought about possible problems. I bought The Pink Kit 3 months after giving birth because of the recommendations I read on the website. Ill use it next time for sure and say NO to any type of pain relief. I dont care how much it hurts. I can tough it out!'
